You are wrong on the compressability of encrypted traffic. SSH, if my memory serves me correctly, encrypts THEN compresses it's data. And it makes quite a difference I might add.
Just a heads up here, for those who want to replace NT servers with SAMBA, Jetdirect internal and external units will not function for longer than 5 minutes with your average (redhat) lpr daemon
I'd be interested to know what you are doing to screw things up so horribly. I have used redhat from v4.2 to v6.0 with no problems whatsoever. This is with 1 and 3 port external JetDirects, and the internal JetDirects in HP4 series, HP5 series and HP4000 series printers. That sure does seem to cover most of what is currently in use. For more than just 5 minutes even. I have printed whole users manuals (300-400 pages) all at once with these tools.
I have a growing concern that some commercial organizations are only becoming involved in the Open Source movement because it is a common front to attack Micro$oft. Once they believe parity has been achieved do you think they will turn on the community and go back to their old tactics (IMHO several of them are just as guilty as Micro$oft in their unethical business practices)? And, if that happens do you think that OSS will have a large enough install base and IT/Enterprise presence to not only survive, but continue to thrive?
"Sure "it can be done in Linux". But it is not available as a standard feature in Linux, you have to search the web to find a script and hack it into your system". Please research before you make comments like these. If you go to ISC's home page you will find that their DHCP daemon has the feature to update the standard BIND 8.x daemon with dynamic addresses. It is not an obscure script that is hard to find on the net; nor is it difficult to implement (hack it into your system). If you weren't familiar enough with BIND you shouldn't have made your "authoritative" comment in the first place.
How is this going to stop online purchases of $1 blank CDR's from the US. So what if I buy 100 and the UPS ground shipping costs me $20. That works out to $.20 a cd. All that's happening is Canada is destroying the sale of an item in Canada and exporting that economy to other countries (namely the US).
A lot of cable providers now offer digital cable. This allows for lots of channels at a fairly low cost and the high quality people have come to expect from recent satellite feeds.
I haven't had such a good laugh in a while. Bill should be in pictures or stand up comedy.
It's FUD because it's written so ambiguously

Just my observation.

The math major is right, you are wrong.
There are 8 Slots.
[x][x][x][x][x][x][x][x]
That would mean [70][70][70][70][70][70][70][70]. Also read as 70*70*70*70*70*70*70*70, also read as 70^8.
You know kind of like the way you count in decimal. 10000 = 10^4 = 10*10*10*10
Go back to remedial math.
