Crap! Nice link. Man am I stupid.
If you check out their web site you'll see that you can download iDVD for free. You don't HAVE to buy a new Mac to get it for free. Alternately, you can purchase on CD it for $19.95. They still says it free but charge $19.95 for shipping (Free?). You may also note that in minimum system requirements it lists a G4 w/ a built in super drive. I don't see how "minimum" precludes anyone from using a different vendors DVD burner. While I don't agree that it's "stealing" to use this software with another drive, I do agree with Apple on it's demand that the retailer stop distributing the patch. iDVD is not GPL'ed. If you don't like it or can't use it, buy/find something else. However, I will never buy a Mac because of things like this. They are very egocentric. They only want software created by them to run on hardware created by them and visa versa. Thus their higher prices.
