I brought my Pioneer unit from techtronics.com. They disabled the macrovision before sale calling it VCR mode. Can't say i've ever used it (except for a test). The multi region mod, that does get used!
They also sell a video enhancer cable that apparently does the same job. I think you can also use it on digital satellite boxes.
