In regard to the "screaming environmentalists": I doubt you actually view the people who have worked to change energy behavior for decades as somehow stupid because they used a linguistic/political modifier rather than an economic one. Perhaps you choose to view people in a certain way because it suits the way you prefer to see yourself.
