What exactly does the DMCA have to do with what other countries do on the internet? So far the US has not enforced that on Chinese sites. I don't think they could if they wanted to.
--And *anything* handed over to the UN is bound to finally be controlled by dictatorships in the worst case, or a complete bureaucratic dystopian organization in the best case. Better leave it with the US for now.--
Agreed unless the US has veto power over any changes.
I think you are wrong about the UN. I would rather have Greece in control of the internet than the UN. The US as bad as that is, is less worse than anyone else as the UN rarely does anything properly without US help anyhow.
A new internet will probably be created anyhow by geeks that want to reduce the signal to noise ratio.
I dunno where you get your accounting advice but bartering IS taxable. The thing is you are also more likely than ever to have to pay taxes for such things.
Well I think with that phone all you have to do is copy Superuser in the proper directory and you are done. HTC has a NAND lock which is still no big deal to root. As I understand it a Nexus wont allow you to upgrade your memory. IMO that is a larger issue as to go from 16gig to 32gig there is quite a price premium like Apple has their phones priced $100 more for an increase in $10 worth of memory.
What is worse than rooting one is upgrading one and getting all of your stuff transferred. I have a phone that has a 4.5 inch screen 1 ghz dual core processor but only came with 2.2.2 but once rooted usually there is enough good apps you can get then to do what you want. The biggest issue I have with the phone companies is charging for tethering. Data is data after all.
Right that's why I just kept 2.2.2 on my LG Thrill (Optimus 3D). Just rooted it and added in the features that I want. Now just about all apps work with it that didn't before, mainly Open GL games that 2.2 apparently doesn't support. It was actually easier to do that then it would have been to upgrade to Gingerbread which is available now with Ice Cream Sandwich coming soon but I now have a decent screen capture and a bunch of other software that gets more out of 2.2 and finally sets that 1ghz dual core processor free.MTP is just one more reason I don't want to go there as certain manufactures are going to limit capabilities there.
No, you just about have too root every device to be able to delete that stuff unless you go for a plain Jane Google model and don't go on contract. I think those are devoid of it but all Verizon and AT&T phones have that stuff in internal memory. Apple probably has less bloat but for now they also have higher prices, smaller screens, and are really behind except in the tablets. Apple looks to have the best tablet with the dumbest name "iPAD 2". It sounds like you are buying tampons or something. Why not call that the iTAB or similar. IBM would do much better if they used iBM but that's getting off subject. Google buying up Motorola Mobility might create another Apple style closed box.
Well that seems to be as close as any one came to fixing that. 15% flat without loopholes period. I does eliminate a lot of government jobs and some accountants, but the well to do will still need an accountant because I would only propose taxing what someone gains. If they reinvest it some where else, then maybe no tax. It's still not as simple as it sounds. Determining what is and is not profit would keep some jobs. If you are gonna be a politician you have to be pragmatic and very good at double talk.
Whomever wins should keep things how they are come December. After that the only real issue I see is capital gains and some trusts. Instead of raising those rates, I propose to ease up the tax burden on everyone so that more people can work and make more money. Too much tax just makes things worse as far as revenue for the government goes because of the law of diminishing returns.
The debt ain't that bad either considering what kind of collateral the US has to back it up. Just add up what the US is worth and compare that to other countries. Our debt to value is not too bad as the US is probably worth $600 trillion at least although I haven't seen to many studies on the subject. Maybe we could put some unemployed accounts back to work to find that answer out.
The US is now doing OK but now the rest of the world is tanking and taking us with them.
I was just joking, so no one in Canada get mad at me please. The last time we tried to invade Canada we got our butts kicked. In fact I think the so called environmental issues over a Canadian pipeline to the Gulf Of Mexico have more to do with keeping gas prices low in the US since most of our imported oil comes from there and stopping a project like that would limit Canada's access to Global markets that might pay more.
I think that is kind of short sighted for the US myself, but hey i don't run things.
There were a few songs back then such as "Taxman" and I'm not saying every UK rich person moves but it seemed to be the case with the Rock band members from there. As far as anyone else, doesn't Bernie Ecclestone still live in the UK because as you say things have changed. I just didn't know how much. I the US we get news of an 80% possible tax rate in the UK and that sounds a bit much and unfair not that it is supposed to be fair.
Really, it must be my southern accent then. I've just hear so much of a big deal about this when Google has has voice recon for a long time and before that Motorola.
So right, that makes perfect sens for rich people to move to someplace that has 0 tax. So if you over tax the rich they will just move somewhere else. And thanks for the clarification.
--Android, by default, will not install software from outside the Google Play market ---
My Android was set up to sideload right out of the box although most people only use Amazon for this.
--in the absence of local root exploits it's much harder to write viruses that target such a system.--
Now the only phones I can think of that do not have this are BB's. What a shame.
This is true damned if you do go BB. Damned if you use Android.
Android has a security model? Oh, I forgot about ICS's possible one. Doesn't any smartphone but a BB have decent security out of the box?
No. Not of any size.

I know, I have heard this for years and it will never happen. The government has just gotten so good at printing the stuff, why would they quit now?
Be late once and see what happens.
True and if this happens people do take Gold.

Could be, even by most males. The stats sow 90% going the females way, when reality is probably 50/50. So that could be it.
It's a long way to the top if you wann rock and roll.
Because you haven't seen some of the patients.
A Faraday cage maybe? Dropbox and similar is for someone real small that can't afford servers.

Whether we want a mechanical army which is within reach or maybe a clone army that could fight better.
