I don't understand why are these supposed to be relevant to software engineering ( not comp science). This is true for any engineering activiy. I simply don't agree that software engineering is much more complex than Designing a product or civil engg. I think they are even more complex as the constraints can be more physical in nature with a much larger number of people involved.

Same has been case with me... Firefox 1.5 is a real letdown. I have been using Firefox since phoenix days, but with Firefox 1.5, I switched to Opera, it is way faster (at least feels faster) and not a cpu hog.

Not trying to be a troll, but I think this is not "western cities" problem, this is a problem of American cities. People coming from the old world... are amazed by the usually big... open flat spaces in American cities....European/asian cities tend to be much more compact IMHO...

This is an ordinance not a law. By Indian Constitution an ordinance must get an approval from the parliament before it can become a law. An ordinance has a lifespan of six months. It has to get an approval from the next parliamentary session (Feb - Mar 2005)

AFAIK there are serious differences even among the ruling coalition about the patent issues, but the media coverage has been mainly on the pharma and biotech patents.

I'd rather wait overnight or even a couple of days to know who the voters chose to lead my country rather than only waiting a couple of hours but not knowing whether it was the voters or the voting machines who chose.

Yeah and provide ample time for the corrupt/baised officials and other elements to change the result....

've got to ask, for something as important as an election, what's wrong with paper and pencil and manual counting?

It takes a long time to count them. I don't know about the number of eligible voters in US, but here in India The Election commision used the electronic voting machines for the last general elections (with around 400 million voters) and the counting hardly took couple of hours..

Actually in this context it means the inevitable death. Gita has a philosophy of constant change and anything that has a beginning has to end. Here krishna (an incarnation of vishnu) tells the warrior that he is just a means for doing something and not the end itself...
