Currently Sun is working on a SECURE personal ID card. I believe that SUN needs to take advantage of the new secure chips developed by AMD & Intel and use them in conjuction with their ID cards. That way the only way to compromise the security of your files is if you are dumb enough to give your card to some one else!
This would also allow the users to have a separation of OS and hardware.
