Thank you for reminding me of these timeless gems.
OK, so we have Down Whoops and Up Whoops, but what about the other flavours? Where's the Strange Whoops, the Charm Whoops, the Top Whoops and the Bottom Whoops?
Especially the last two would be interesting, because they are linked to Truth and Beauty.
I don't understand the penchant for an IDE. It is just another layer between me and the finished product. I've ran into too many developers that have no idea how to use an actual compiler...it is terrifying!

The idea that something can be created out of nothing does not resonate in our everyday experience, because we don't have the technology to do that.
No. It's not about what our technology enables. It's about what science says. And there's absolutely no scientific theory which allows to create something out of nothing without at the same time to destroy something. That's a fact. Now, of course it might be that our theories are incomplete, and that in reality, it is possible to create from nothing, but not to destroy. But that's not what you were writing about. You wrote (emphasis by me): "We know from science that nothing ever goes out of existence." And it's a fact that all scientific theories which say nothing can be created from nothing also say that nothing can be destroyed.
Why should it not be possible for God who is the source of all information, not have the technology to recover the information that embodies you, your consciousness, the essence of your being.
At that part of the post I was explicitly speaking about science, not about what God might or might not do. I didn't object to your telling about what according to Christian believe happens with God. I only objected at your attempt to link it to the results of science, because it just doesn't fit them (which doesn't mean it contradicts them, because it is clearly outside the realms of them, but they also don't support it).
BTW, why should God need any technology? He's God. He is all-knowing. He doesn't even need to look at the universe to know what is happening inside.
If you don't like living under a government, you are free to move to Somalia. However I don't think you'll like the government-free life there...
Note that Switzerland is a direct democracy, yet still has a government. Why would they have one if direct democracy made it superfluous?
And if all the work is done by robots, a government is needed more than ever, because then there will be no more economic wealth redistribution through wages.
If nobody gives a shit about privacy, then why are we having those discussions? Apparently somebody gives a shit about privacy (and indeed, probably more people than you think). And it doesn't matter if they are the majority or the minority. You don't lose your basic rights just from being in the minority.
Why? Could you avoid the duty of paying taxes by just buying in US Dollars instead of Canadian Dollars? Or does the Canadian tax office accept US Dollars for tax payment?
“Because of politics, some things are being forced on us that without political pressure we might not do, like Windows NT. If it were up to me I probably would not have used Windows NT in this particular application... Refining that is an ongoing process... Unix is a better system for control of equipment and machinery, whereas NT is a better system for the transfer of information and data. NT has never been fully refined and there are times when we have had shutdowns that resulted from NT.”
History is against you. Most artists died in poverty.
How many artists who were in their lifetime widely appreciated as artists died in poverty? Because, you know, if nobody buys your stuff because they don't consider it worthwhile to have, copyright won't help you.
The reason why DVDs are no big trouble is that the DRM scheme has been broken early on. And yet, it still causes some inconveniences due to region codes when you are using a regular DVD player.
99% of all artists are not the pushed up "superstars" who get more money than they deserve. If you only count artists that really deserve to be called that, you go closer to 100%.
So you have no games which require an online connection even for single-player mode? Because that's an enforced end of life: As soon as the licensing server is switched off, your game is effectively gone.
You don't have a software that requires online activation each time it is installed? Because that's also a built in end of life, since computers usually end up being replaced: As soon as the online activation server is switched off, you'll not be able to install it on your next computer, even if the computer would otherwise be able to run it.
Strictly speaking, even DRM tying the software to a specific medium is a built in end of life: Since you cannot make a backup, as soon as the medium fails your copy of the digital work is gone.
People over 30+, who tend to have more respect for DRM and do less file sharing, buy more CDs.
I have zero respect for DRM. And yet I do zero file sharing.
And falling CD sales may also be related to overpriced CDs. When the CD of a movie's music costs more than the DVD of the complete movie, there's something wrong.
I don't buy a CD costing more than 10€. If more CDs were available at that price point, I might have bought a multiple of the CDs I actually bought.
Secure Boot is not DRM. Indeed, even locked down Secure Boot isn't exactly what DRM is about: It doesn't stop you from running pirated versions of the "approved" software, but it prevents you from running "non-approved" software, regardless of whether you obtained it legally or illegally. You can use it as part of a DRM system (as it prevents you from booting a system which might compromise the actual DRM component), but by itself it isn't a DRM system, just like encryption is no DRM system, despite all DRM systems relying on it as a vital part.
Because you want your computer to be independent from the cloud? Because you want to do things which are not available on Android? Because you just want a desktop interface on your laptop, instead of a phone interface? Because at some point, someone might unveil a competing OS which is vastly better than what exists now, and you might want to switch your laptop to that?
The other box would of course only support adding records, not removing them. So unless you are hacking the other box, the only thing you could do is to increase the suspicion by creating bogus extra login reports.
Down Whoops: but it did not end well.
Up Whoops: closest to your Whoops!
Thank you for reminding me of these timeless gems.

Don't forget the spherical bulls. And their supersymmetric partners, the bullinos.

Of course, real programmers use cat > a.out :-)
Only on paper.

DRM is short for "Digital Rights Management". So which rights are managed with UEFI?
If you don't like living under a government, you are free to move to Somalia. However I don't think you'll like the government-free life there ...

If you forget to do so in the U.S., will you be a sex offender? And if a youth does so, will he be punished for producing child porn?

Not. Even. Remotely related.
You've seen my self-reply where I've explicitly stated that I accidentally replied to the wrong post?
Anyway, I guess that gadget will not be welcome in cinemas.
Oops, that should have been an answer to this post.
Does it? If I buy from you, but pay with illegal drugs, am I exempt from taxes? If not, does it legalize illegal drugs?
Oops, that of course should have been "selling", not "buying". I was too quick on the submit button.

Interesting quote from there:

Wouldn't you then prefer that the guns actually work?

And there are ways to become known which don't involve the big labels.
