  1. Re:The Environment? on Blog Action Day · · Score: 1

I clicked across some of the blogs listed on the site, and came across an interesting point. The environment isn't just the whole planet, but also your local environment. Taking action to make one's own environment a better place sounds fine to me...

What about your brain? All this piracy wouldn't be a problem if you didn't think about it in the first place...

Acceleration is measured in distance per second per second. 34 km/s is a velocity. So did you mean it accelerates it to 34 km/s? Or did you actually mean it accelerates at 34 km/s/s? This is /. were pedantic nerds with nothing better to do hang out, not CNN.

    Shouldn't this be (34 km/s)/s or 34 km/(s*s) or 34 km/(s^2)?

Lotus 123 seems to the job quite well for his dad, so why should he change hundreds of options to customize his excel to do the same for a lot of more money?
Having a lot of options does not necessarily mean that a program is better suited for a problem than a simple one...

  7. Re:Why? Hmmm.... let me think on Cheap Audio Production · · Score: 1

There are much more music CDs than DVDs available. If you want to sell a movie, you have to compete with some other movies. If you want to sell music, you have to compete with a lot of other albums.
So it's much simpler to sell the Matrix or LOTR some thousand times than selling J. Random Musician's latest album. The more you can sell - the less you need to take for one.
Of course the film industry would double the prices at once if they found enough customers to pay...

    2. It doesn't prevent people from playing CD's in analog players altogether. The music available in two forms on the CD, one inteneded for traditional CD players in a copy protected format, and one for PC's, also copy protected

Unfortunately there are some CD players which can't play copy protected CD's. If I buy a CD player, I want to listen to every compact disc I own, not just the old ones (without copy protection)!
The article also states that the "new" CDs will not carry the CD Logo. As far I as I understand, you can't return this CD if you cannot play it in your CD Player, because they haven't said it's a CD. That's really bad...
