well Oregon should tax any fuel that is used for the purpose of transportation. ie.hybrids do use a fuel of some sort. tax it. presto! not so hard.
the consumer demand in oregon would then be higher for small, more efficient vehicles. The government would lose tax money gradually as general car efficiency improves. But i'm sure the government could solve that problem.

I also think they should provide automobile insurance through a gas tax. the more gas you use the higher your car insurance. but its not that simple as their are good and bad drivers.. but maybe we should let the law work that end out.

Normal viloence is one thing. Warfare is ugly. But, i do think a game whee the goal is to rape and kill prostitutes is a bad thing. The lowest common denominator in enterainment, taking advantage of the angst men have against women for denying them sexual favours.
If slashdotters hate the word patent, then they have good reason to. There is a whole lot of hurt that has been caused by patents. Take Africa and its AIDS epidemic. Drug comapnies refusing to let the African governments make their own copy of the drugs for their people because of patent issues.
Yeah we might have become quick to demonfy a patent even before we know what it is about, but we do know on the whole that there are many evil patents out there. The system is failing
so basicly.. this. they get this patent and no one else can ever change the color of their hardware on its own internal program?? Patents should not be so broad. It stifles innovation.

Two positives: It taxes road use, and makes SUV's pay more per mile.
So simple. and better.
This goes to show that the real use of this GPS TAX is identification and location of vehicles.
