When our clients are happy, I have no problem if my whole staff spends the whole day playing on their Wii's and X-Box's, because I trust them to do their jobs 24/7 if that is what it takes to please the customer.

Same goes for NVidia, whose drivers suck too. Cant get an overlay. If a company advertises drivers for an OS on their site, they should WORK. If they dont, they shouldnt be available for download.

As for the other nonsense in your post, I do enjoy the latest/greatest stuff, because I can afford it. I like music in my office, sue me, loser.

Was their something in Vista I had to have? Probably not, which is why I dual-boot, or did you miss that? One thing though, Office 2007 is three times as fast under Vista than under XP, and fuck you, its pretty!

I have Vista drivers for my RAID, they work. I have Vista drivers for my bluetooth, VOIP, etc, and they work. Creative and NVidia dont, and it is their fault.

Audigy 4 Pro reduced to steaming pile of garbage. If you touch the mixer, raise or lower volume, sound goes away and doesnt come back without a reboot. Fiber inputs no longer work, nor does digital coax input. Surround, what do you think? GONE, bitches.

Every boot into Vista comes with the suspense of whether there will be sound or not.

Longtime current and former Microsofties dont see the problem stemming from Ballmer becoming CEO, they see it as the result of Brad Silverburg losing the internal power struggle with Jim Allchin back in 1997. Silverburg had browser responsibilities and was preaching that Microsoft needed to start transitioning to the web in a much more substantial way, including MS Office.

Allchin convinced upwards that Microsoft needed to keep the jewels propriatary, and he won. Silverburg left, and you can trace Microsoft's decline from that very day. I was not a Silverburg acolyte at the time, in fact, I was on Allchin's side. But clearly, we were wrong in a big way. There was no hint of a Google at that time, and the focus was stabbing Lotus Notes in the heart, kicking AOL to the curb, and those little fuckers at Netscape who said they would bury us.

Hindsight is a bitch. Microsoft should hire Silverburg back, put him in a room with Ozzie, and change the company. The stock has done NOTHING for too long. Ballmer, are you reading this? You know its true, tubby.

When was the last technical event you attended? The last speaking engagement, demo, roadshow, retreat, or whatever the fuck, where you could tell people about your business?

First thing: You gotta believe that your services are the best available, because if you dont, nobody else will either. When you do believe it, it is easy to sell it to people who dont even know they need it. If you start the week knowing that maybe one in twenty contacts is a likely sell, then you know how many people you need to talk to.

If your services are worth something, make the fuckers PAY for it. If you provide a comprehensive IT solution including everything you mentioned, why the fuck are you willing to give it away? Prospective clients will think maybe you just got out of jail, or you are on some FBI pervert list.

Are you a professional, or not? If you charge like a beginner, potential clients will assume you are a beginner. First, stop charging by the hour and charge on the value of your services. What is the value of a 99.999 uptime network to a small-to-medium size business? Charge for that by the month, not the hour, with a penalty clause for downtime. Share the risk, and clients will appreciate that you care about what you are doing, and not just racking up a fee.

I dont care what you are charging right now, DOUBLE it, and I bet you get more (and a better class of)clients.

The search engine makes money, but Google knows that they will need to do more, and I hope the phone rumors are true, but even so, just gathering a lot of great programmers together under one unbrella does not guarantee innovation.
