Who would try to go to mars in a space craft build by americans. Let's see, fire swept trough Apollo 1, Chalenger exploded. I hope you get the point.
Open the power supply and put a ~20-40 ohm 5W (or less) resistor in series with the fan. The fan will still work but it will be silent. I have a linux home server running 24/7 like that and I've had no problems.
Nothing like metallica to get the blood going...
