The Toronto group could have slashdotted a smaller pub, but the Rivoli is just too big a venue. Had everyone that RSVPed shown up, there still would have been room.
At its peak, I would estimate that there were somewhere around 35 or 40 people at the Toronto Meetup.
I was the fourth person to arrive (about 15 minutes after the event started) and for the first hour or so, it looked like the turnout was going to be pretty thin.
Anyway, after an initial hesitancy, I got completely engrossed in the conversation. Two hours later, the place was packed, and from the laptop and the t-shirts that I saw around me, it looked like the Slashdot crowd had arrived.
The crowd got thinner around 10:30 - 11:00 p.m., and so to compensate, the Rivoli turned the already loud music up some more.
Hello to Saul, Zafar, Rachel, Sean, and later Steve who were at my table, as well as Vern and the group from the Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge area.
