I'm almost willing to bet that more than 15% of the MMORPG population is addicted to it. What other reason would a person play EQ for 5 years?
Addiction has nothing to do with how many years you play something. I've payed and played a mud for near 7 years. But the main reason was FUN.
I wasn't addicted, it was just a fun spare time killer.
Currently I play WoW for 30 or so hours a week. I'm not addicted, I just find it very fun.
Then again.. Maybe I am addicted and just don't know it. *shrug*
I can stop, I know I can, damnit!
According to this address 10k+ users are seeing this problem which is probably caused by some virus.
I'm hearing this 'virus' placed entries in the windows hosts file so that Google points to something else.
For XP the host file can be found here: \Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts
for 2000 and NT: \Winnt\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts
and for the other Windows systems: \Windows\hosts
Check out the entries in the hosts file and make sure there's nothing strange in it

..the better anti-virus companies do. (money-wise)
Call me paranoia. But I wouldn't be surprised if anti-virus companies build viruses themselves.
1: Build anti-virus product
2: Build virus
3: Sell more anti-virus solutions (aka profit!)

Bets are now open!
It's rumored to be only in Portable releases of openssh. Hence the p1 in 3.4p1. An interesting read is the thread it created on the FreeBSD list
