  1. Lego Movies on Lego Addictions · · Score: 2, Interesting
I just recently notice the amazing amount of Lego movies people have made. They range in length from about 10 seconds to 30 minutes, with 5 minutes probably about average. Some are really quite good.

The LEGO Purists web page :-) They don't even like many perfactly good (IMHO) pieces. There was Black Tron (in North America, and I think that was actully BT mark II or something) around the same time as MTron. In any case, someone has made (a href="http://www.blacktron.net/">a website for the BlackTron Prefecture, which is their new BT government.

"Not entirely true that. There is support for HCF/HSF based WinModems [...] as long as you're not afraid of following instructions that involve typing things in. Yes, I've got a Conexant chipset winmodem with Linux drivers. It works pretty well, although from what I remember it did take a bit of work to get the drivers installed properly. Not particularly newbie friendly, but not too bad... Also, on the (off :-)) topic of winmodems, speed is theoretically an issue, but on fast machines isn't really. However, the difference between the download speed I got with a 56k winmodem on a P233 and a XP1700+ is enormous. I think that the P233 simply couldn't handle the full speed, at least not at the same time as doing anyhing else. Anyway, becasue the drivers are a major part of a winmodem, I suppose the quality of the drivers could affect connection speed and stability, but as far as I know, this hasn't been a problem for Linux drivers so far.

I believe BCIT (in/near Vancouver) has a computer science (I'm assuming that's what you are after, since this is /.) type program where you are required to get some "work experience" at around the same time anyway. The minimum work requirements are probably very different that what you are doing, but my impression is that it would generaly be very flexible for people who are working at the same time. Have you seen if there are any places along those lines that would be an option for you?

  5. Maybe it is a good point on Politicians Seek Spam Loophole · · Score: 1

To some extent they do have a good point, although the article did come accross as "we should to be excepted from the rules, but no one else should be"... I think maybe political spam should be allowed as long as it is regulated, ie with a real op-out, a valid return address, etc., only from someone who they can actully vote for and who will represent them, and with no irrelivent content (like ads). It is true that the charges to the recever set email appart from most other mediums, but if we always worry about cost, soon everyone will be wanting to be be refunded for all email receved, and that situation might be just as bad as the spam problem. In any case, surely the costs for sending and the costs for receving balance out to some extent? I'm not saying that the article is right, just that it is worth thinking about.
