I just dropped cable AND hulu after suffering through their commercials. Air, Amazon and discs. We're fine and up $90/month. That plus 16 channels off an HD antenna is plenty.

From what I have seen so far Unity gets in the way of usability and refuses to let me make my desktop look the way I want it to look. The people I know who have upgraded regret it. I'll stay on Ubuntu 11.04 until they stop being stupid. First it was GDM (no more login customisation) now they want to dictate the desktop. Screw that.

It is no surprise to me that one of the lead democrats that brought us the banking and housing disasters of the century ends up cashing in on one of the biggest abusers of government "strong arming" to benefit industry power. Lately I've been finding myself routed to South America for customer service (Motorola for one). I hope this is a trend because the general knowledge, english skills, politeness, and service is LIGHT YEARS above India. When I get routed to India for IBM or Dell, I'm more likely to get hung up on. My South American service with Motorola was so good I started asking where they were from. Argentina and Costa Rica. I guess the front line is Argentina and the actual support is in Costa Rica. They were great to talk to and if anything, overly polite.

IMHO, Linux is the Windoze of the *nix world. Its far from the best, but it has the attention.

What many americans do not realize is that non-americans dislike of George is and was based on many things other than Iraq. GWB basically gave the middle-finger salute to the rest of the world right after becoming the president in 2000: refusing to join land-mine treaty and international court of war crimes, along with Kyoto protocol; and doing so without any diplomatic tact. In many cases excuses given were ridiculous
What many non-Americans don't realize, is that many Americans voted for Bush for these very reasons. There has been increasing aggravation and distrust of the UN and European Union in many sectors of US public opinion. because you're micro-analyzing the tree... or nobody wants to actually come out and say it. This is a war against islamic middle-eastern nations. It's not about WMDs or even [entirely] about oil. Iraq ended up a target because they were already under judgment that the UN would not execute because they were making money off the situation. The goal is obvious and Bush stated it over and over. The US wants to erode militant islamic culture by way of democratic examples in the region. Make no mistake about it, this is a Jihad against Islam. It's just not politically correct to come out and say so. Communism is no longer viewed a threat. Islam is. [BTW, please don't confuse my stating of what I see as being the obvious, with my personal views on the situation.]

You would vote for Kerry. He will decimate our military as his voting record and political lobbying has demonstrated.

The militant Islamics will be emboldened and [surprise!] not walk down the happy-happy-joy-joy path of peace and harmony with us as liberal myopia would dictate, but take our castorated military as a gift from Allah... as *they* demonstrated during the Clinton years. The whole "balance of power" concept is not going to work in the hands of a moslem. Why? Allah wants you either Islamic, or dead. Every moslem that helps accomplish either gets a dozen sexy wives in paradise. Why do you think they're lining up to strap on ball bearing bombs?

I haven't seen F911 but it sounds like a bunch of emotional puff and blow. Anyone I talk to that is struck by it, can only recall the tearful mother who lost her son, and the accusation that Bush lied.

Want nuclear hell? Vote Kerry. He can deliver the *only* thing they want. Our stones on a silver platter.
