  1. We should create a non-profit to do this through on Protesting DMCA · · Score: 1

I am a member of the American Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). We are 300000 members strong. This gives us a voice that will be heard on topics that affect General Aviation.

We should create a similar group for Geeks. Then when something comes along like the DMCA we can use our collective voice to combat the legislation.

I don't know if the ACM does this already but would could use that as a starting point.

  2. FAA and AM stations on AM Frequency Hinders ADSL Capacity · · Score: 1

Pilots use AM radio to do adf navigation all the time. These stations are used to do non-precision approaches to airports. If this does interfere with AM radio stations, I can't beleive that the FAA has not done anything about it.

I can just see the headlines..
airplanes crashed because of Quake 3, news at 10.

Except that you are forgetting that the MAC address does not leave the subnet that it is on, and can be changed on a lot of NIC's out there.

  4. This may be bigger than just email on Hotmail Cracked Badly · · Score: 1

This passport problem could run a lot deeper than just email. MS's new version of moneycentral.msn.com requires that you have a passport account. This service allows you to track your stocks via a nice GUI. It also has the ability to store this information on MS's servers so that you can access the information from any computer. I don't do it that way.. but I am sure that many people do. Oh and anybody remember MS wallet? I beleive that the next version is supposed to use this wonderful device called MS Passport.
