IE is the default browser on more systems than anything else. And even if Firefox is installed, the API calls on windows for http downloads use the IE engine, unless you go to some trouble.
weather.noaa.gov is the stupid toolbar something added. stopbadware.org is the firefox link scanning site trying to keep you safe from "bad websites" but only after they have infected lots of folks, and for a while after they are cleaned up... The other 52 websites on a given page are adds, and google analytics.
Until the fat lady... Uh...until the appeals are done. It is a very good sign, but it can still be overturned by an idiot judge higher up. Until the supreme court rules, it is still a potentially expensive battle.
Please understand that I'm a liberal and I'll be the first to believe that police often use unnecessary force and get a power trip from it. But there are also news pundits like this one who like slinging mud and getting off on it. Let's leave the mud where it lies and not pick it up to throw it again.
I am conservative and agree with you. This supports my theory that "liberals" and "conservatives" have much more in common with each other than anyone in the media or in Washington. But as long as we keep demonizing each other, they keep their jobs. And that is why "unbiased reporting" never happens. So, you have to just find two opposing biases of the same news and see if you can filter the truth out of that.
When it applies. In this country, we are never satisfied with the middle. We love the extremes. Until they get to extreme, then we swing back. Very foolish, and very predictable.
Look at the videos. The Police crossed the line, and not by a little. But not all. In any group of 100 people, there will be some jerks. The problem is the protecting of jerks with badges and guns.
A good answer to that is here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zgr3DiqWYCI&feature=share It is not news because no one died. But now it is becoming news because the media is ignoring it. And the pendulum starts to swing back.
Batteries have a life cycle, and are very expensive to replace. What do I (the car owner) get for you (the electric company) drastically shortening the life of my batteries?
Not applicable. How about people who would not like the link FaceBook to a service with access to bank or credit card information? Even if you have FaceBook, that does not mean you want them to have more information about you.
Any service or website that requires a Facebook account will NEVER get any of my business. This is a very troubling trend. I'm seeeing more and more websites that are requiring it.
My first thought as well. And central database of single sign on is a bad idea if you value security or privacy. I mean, FaceBook accounts never get hacked, do they?
Facebook has been doing some questionable things lately, which is interesting considering they have an up-and-coming contender in Google+ to compete against.
It is not intentional. But a while ago, they switched over to Google Docs, and sense then, memos and directives have changed occasionally.;)
Or maybe they will feel that a pool of 800m potential subscribers is enough for them.
The pool of Internet users with FaceBook is smaller than the pool of Internet users. However you put it, by requiring FaceBook, they eliminated a lot of potential customers. And I am not sure what they got by doing this...
Funny enough, while there are loads of alternative pdf readers out there, all of the alternative flash players I know of seem to be Linux only, or the windows versions are way behind. http://www.gnu.org/software/gnash/ http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/lightspark http://swfdec.freedesktop.org/wiki/ Perhaps this will get these projects some attention...

Plug-in repositories are one thing I WISH windows would steal from Linux!
Yep. When a window licker has a cold or the flu...
Mainly because the technology is reactive. We have to see and attack before we can guard against it.
Bullying people with the legal system is not legal.
But it is. It shouldn't be, but right now it is. I wonder if it is related to the fact that everyone who makes the law is a lawyer...

Nope. It is very biased. Just less biased than most. Scary...

This video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zgr3DiqWYCI&feature=share shows both good a bad officers as well. And yes, it is worse for the vast majority of good cops out there because of a few idiots with guns and badges.
The most neutral I have seen is here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zgr3DiqWYCI&feature=share And it is an opinion piece.

It is not an evolution, but a pendulum. I think it is starting to swing back as more people say "no" to an unreasonable TSA and so on.
This was my thought... But I love the others from the slashdot audience. Stolen car, and stolen radio are two I would not have thought of.
Actually, no. I was talking about the gang bangers who do not want to be tracked. But I like your thought as well. :)
Never underestimate the power capacity of a station wagon full of tapes hurtling down the highway. :)

I'm not. At least not twice...
