    Not single handedly. The FBI seizing domain names of legal foreign companies, and arresting foreign nationals that never came to US soil sure helped.

    Food that was able to be grown in certain locations won't be able to be grown there anymore. Maybe it'll be able to be grown somewhere else (necessitating building a new supply chain to the new growth spot) or maybe it won't be able to be grown at all anymore.

    This is not new. There are very old historical wineries that are too far north to grow grapes. Now...

    You do realize that humans were not as numerous nor did they occupy the same geographic locations in the past as they do now right?

    I have to ask because this site is very US centric, and they don't seem to do well with geography and/or earth timelines. (which will probably get me modded down even though both camps complain about the other)

    Humans did not even occupy Florida much until the advent of air conditioning. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H... And perhaps it will go back to pre 1950 levels...

    I thought fracking blasted away a lot of that peak oil crap... Remember that as cost goes up, demand goes down. And, other technologies to retrieve that energy become more viable. At some point, even things like solar become feasible, so you should like that part.

    So the same HP that canned its best engineers is a proud sponsor? HP gave up on innovation years ago, so this is nothing more than a marketing ploy and a way to outsource some of its own engineering for a low cost.

    Hmm, that's basically everyone that matters with the huge, glaring omission of VMWare. At this point EMC is going to have to decide between being the 'leader' in the field with their early initiative or being standards compliant and interoperating with everyone else. There was a time where Cisco could go it alone in networking and push their own standards, but I don't think they could today and I certainly don't think VMWare has that kind of clout.

    The Cisco implementation does not work with anyone else. I am betting HP will do the same. Microsoft would if they had a stake in any hardware, but for them it is just a way to keep HyperV relevant.

    Cisco notably doesn't support it except sort of in their own unique 100% proprietary manner, so for 99% of businesses, this is a no-go right from the start.

    And HP is different? Looking at the sponsors I just see a big collection of "Embrace and extend" proprietary companies. Cumulus Networks looks a lot more open... http://cumulusnetworks.com/

    For the amount of money paid, I would have read the fucking contract! This is less fuzzy than "unlimited" plans, and look how that turned out?

    Al Franken is one of the most intelligent, ethical, fair, and progressive-minded people in the Senate.

    Indeed he is, and given his level of sheer stupidity and making his mind up before he has facts, that says a lot about the rest of the Senate, and the People who voted them in.

    This was my point in the root post. I guess the point was lost on the moderators, however.

    The golden age of freely flowing information is over.

    Why? Nothing is blocked, it is just slower. This sucks for streaming, but streaming is not the only way to share information. Speeds that will not work at all for Netflix work fine on The Pirate Bay... It just requires people to think differently and not stream everything but download it instead. And having a local copy is a good thing.
