If folks don't know about the LOTR trilogy by now then they don't care.
I saw the trailer for Fellowship in 2000 and went to see it in Dec 2001. I know that Two Towers is out in Dec 2002 and Return of the King in 2003. Just get on with it I say, the DVD boxset will break records!
True, but there's an ego trip in supplying something that only he can supply. It's obvious that the market is there for such a film, if the person in question supplied it to someone making VCDs then some money could change hands.
It's the age old problem, if you buy stolen goods (or download them in this case) then you're creating the demand.
Most laws have an offence of receiving stolen goods as well as stealing them.
A digital master at the studio would be many gigabytes of data, I would estimate about 100 gig at least for a 3hr film (multitrack audio as well).
I wonder who could download that without being noticed?
I wish people could sit and watch a film without eating, drinking and talking. It ruins the enjoyment of a film.
A friend of mine saw Episode 2 on VCD then at the Cinema, he said he enjoyed it more at home as the Cinema was too full and he was sat by a aircon duct freezing his bits off.
What do you expect? the movie industry spends too much time and money building up to release dates with all the hype, advertising etc.. just release the damn film!
It was probably illegal and unethical for Compaq to of reverse engineered the IBM PC BIOS but they did and as a result it gave birth to industry we know today.
Perhaps those dumb politicians creating all these anti this that and the other laws should remember that.

Many people want a PDA that provides free or low cost information on the move. Syncronising with a desktop computer is getting a little tiresome.
It would be nice to see a new PDA that slides into the iMac and can link up with the iPod. I believe people will pay more for elegant solutions.
Apple may of helped start the ARM company but their RISC work started at Acorn.

Palm realised that the time wasn't right for expensive PDAs, the Newton was over-engineered for the early 90s. Palm invented graffiti as it was easier and cheaper to get the user to learn something than add full handwriting recog to the device.
In a way it's better having a company like Palm producing popular PDAs instead of one of the big players like Microsoft and Apple. Politics make the IT industry boring.
