When I signed up for the NY no call list, after a few weeks the telemarketing calls dropped to nothing.
Now I'm starting to get random calls from companies that don't have a clue. I usually give them one chance by assertively (but politely) informing the on-duty manager of the NY law. I know that the manager that I talk to has no idea what I'm talking about, but I hope maybe he'll tell someone who knows better.
However, if they ever call back, that's when I ream'em and report'em.

Give out free CDs at campuses. If you can't get someone there in person, send them to a local campus group or station.
