  1. why? on Recovering Secret HD Space · · Score: 1

arent hard drives horribly unreliable enough as it is? why try to push it for a little more space, when drives are so cheap now you can just buy 4 of them and make a nice RAID array?

  2. you cant judge by marketshare on PC Mag - Mac OS X Insecure · · Score: 1

    People, in general, are stupid
This guy makes almost his entire argument based on the fact that osx has such less marketshare then windows
But does this matter? The best selling car in america is the toyota camry. would you rather drive a camry, or if you can afford it, a cadillac?
I own a mac. and ive owned two cadillacs. and ive used PCs. and ive driven camrys.
ill stick with a computer that is problem free (mostly. noting is problem free, but the more problem free systems are prone to people saying "I TOLD YOU SO" whenever the slightest problem arises), and the smoothest riding car on the planet.
you CANNOT judge the quality of a product by marketshare, when 90% of the world are idiots.

    I agree
i mean, its nice having an office suite on my sun blade and all, but i have two big problems with openoffice
First, its slow, crappy, and unreliable
And more importantly, the name. i DESPISE the name "openoffice.org". name it OPENOFFICE. then make the WEB SITE's name "openoffice.org"

This is akin to Cnets download.com. Since the site is named "download.com", the actual url is "download.com.com". "download.com" just forwards to "download.com.com"
    stupid stupid stupid.

  4. criminal on Gator Examined · · Score: 1

gator isnt just crappy software. gator takes advantage of inexperienced computer users, who allow it to automatically install from IE. Not only is it annoying as hell, but it is a criminal invasion of privacy, and every gator employee should be in jail for it. If i were to break into your house, put in a camera, watch it to determine your tastes, then break in again to put ads all over your house, i would go to jail. How is this any different?

  6. Re:Biased or not... on Mac vs. PC: Digital Video Editing Comparison · · Score: 1

You are mostly right However, PCs are moving more and more into the broadcast market. As far as low end, prosumer products go, Avid XpressDV is the best you can get. I can say flat out that it DESTROYS final cut pro. The latest version runs on both PCs and Macs. I have found it runs better on macs, but macs are prohibitively expensive for most average joes. On the professional side, there are more and more replacements for the industry standard Avid media composer (mac) then there ever were. Avid sells the DS and symphony, both online, uncompressed systems that run on NT, and are very stable and powerful. I am an engineer/editor at a post production facility in Washington DC, and we have a wide range of systems, from offline XpressDV systems, all the way up to Discreet Smoke and Avid|DS. With a few digital linear rooms, an online media composer (a mac), and an avid symphony (NT). As an engineer, i would love to have nothing but SGI systems to work on. they dont break. EVER. But no budget would permitt such a heaven, and part of being a good engineer is making things work with what you are givin. As an editor, its hard to say which i like to work on more. It totally depends on the project. And most importantly, remember: this is ART. An artist's worth is not judged by his tools, but by his creativity.
