In Which People Dream of Artificial Worlds is a chapter from physicist Dr. Robert Park's Book "Voodoo Science: The Road from Foolishness to Fraud". In it, Dr. Park explains how human presence in space (the driving force behind the Apollo missions) was important only as a measure of national power. He explains how the Russians explored the moon to a greater extent and gathered more scientific data through robotic exploration than the US. However, it is the US that has been seen as the 'winner' in the eyes of the world. He also talks about the ISS. How, scientifically, the space station is completely unnecessary. He then gives a brief history of space exploration and some background on proponents of human colonization of space (L5 society). In general the chapter is a collection of his opinions, as a scientist, on how he thinks our country should invest its resources into space research. This is a great book and he covers a lot of topics aside from space exploration that would be of interest to this crowd. Give it a read, he has a way of making a point; "If there was gold for the taking in low-Earth orbit, it would not pay to go get it."

I read a comment by one poster saying that PHP 4.2.3 did not work with Apache 2.0.42 on win32. This is not true! Once you have Apache up and running, install PHP 4.2.3 (or what ever the latest PHP distribution is). If Apache wont start, follow these directions.
1) Move php.ini to your {winnt} directory. 2) Move php4ts.dll and php4ts.lib to your {system32} directory. 3) Go to Snapshot and download php4-win32-latest.zip 4) Extract the file php4apache2.dll from the downloaded file to your folder, overwrite the old file. 5) Restart Apache!
When ever PHP seems to break the latest Apache release just repeat this process. If this still does not work try asking for help over at Install Forum
For me 9/11 has caused me to become more aware of what is happening in the rest of the world. More importantly how our government is involved in what is happening abroad and who is informing me about this. I think today there are many americans educating themselves with such matters. We are learning that things are not as simple as we thought, Conflict resolution in the middle east is not something that can happen just because clinton wanted good PR. Hopefully 9/11 will remove the vale of apathy that obscured our decision making and in the least, leave no room for regret.
