America has hosted the (summer) Olympics twice in my memory...
The Olympics in the US is largely a state and local issue. Recently in Boston/Massachusetts, fat government egos wanting a Boston Olympics were defeated by multiple waves of massive public opposition. No reasonable locale wants to be burdened with decades of Olympic debt.
Try reading the works of the Founders, then realize how far to the right of today's right they are. Then read Plutarch's Lives, and see how much farther to the right honorable men were 2000 years ago. In the US, the general historical trend has been to the left, to corruption, loonyism, arbitrary capricious and unknowable law (We'll have to pass Obamacare to know what's in Obamacare, to paraphrase Nancy Pelosi.) The extreme right today would seem outrageously leftist to a moderate from 1900.
Radio is really a XXXXX responsibility, since radio waves pay no attention to YYYYY borders.
The United Nations should have absolute censorship control over all electromagnetic transmissions by your argument. It's a complete non sequitur.
Sound is really a Federal responsibility, since people can talk across state borders.
Writing is really a Federal responsibility, since people can throw wads of paper across state borders.
When Limbaugh became addicted to painkillers, there were leftists who tried to use the court system to have him jailed. Leftists fear and hate right-wing political voices, and there is no limit to the methods they'll use to silence the right.
What's the point? CPUs have hardware interface and instruction set specifications that allow reverse engineering. Sure, some things are microcoded, but microcode is slower than hardwiring and is mostly useful for working around design flaws.
GPUs, on the other hand, are clouded in secrecy and there would be a benefit from opening them up much more than they are now.
You've never heard the phrase "patent medicine"? Granted, it usually applied to "snake oil", but the concept has long been valid. For example, U.S. patent 2834711 (1958) is a production method for bacitracin, a continuation of an abandoned patent application first made in 1953.
Poor people tend to be hurt by things like bullet holes, poor hygiene, poor nutrition, cigarette smoke, and mind-degrading drugs. Preventing those things doesn't require difficult research.
The primary purpose of inflating the money supply is to provide a dishonest gain for the government. It takes a deeply incompetent government to lose when it creates currency.
The non-fatality of surviving diseases is only a hypothesis, and a flawed one. Some diseases with nonhuman hosts don't kill the host, but can be transmitted to and kill humans. Consider fleas and the Plague, or for a milder example ticks and Lime disease. Many diseases are transmissible long before they become dangerous to the carrier, which also works around your hypothesis.
Typhoid Mary was isolated to the Brother Islands, part of New York City. Uninhabited islands still exist, and arguably could be pressed into service at substantial public expense. That's a very generous treatment for a willful public danger.
Separating the ends and the means is a false dichotomy. The means are a part of the ends.
If a bridge is built at a cost of $10,000,000 and two lives are lost in the process, the end is not a bridge. The end is a bridge, the loss of $10,000,000 and the loss of 2 lives.

Liberty and freedom are of no use to dead people. The root of all rights is the life of innocent human individuals, and the right to life, properly considering all relevant facts, takes precedent over all derived rights.
Measles and many other viral diseases can be either cured or greatly ameliorated by massive doses of vitamin C. It's likely to be just as effective for a mutated measles. Panic over a new variety of measles raging incurable is unwarranted.
The disease may be most easily transmitted to human beings by eating food contaminated with the brain, spinal cord or digestive tract of infected carcasses.[3] However, the infectious agent, although most highly concentrated in nervous tissue, can be found in virtually all tissues throughout the body, including blood.[4] In humans, it is known as new variant Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease (vCJD or nvCJD), and by June 2014 it had killed 177 people in the United Kingdom, and 52 elsewhere.

FWIW, Gore refused to sell to Beck, who probably could have made the channel financially successful.

There is considerable shame in the declining value of currency; it is the cheating of everyone who holds it. That everyone else does it is no excuse.
Steel rusts. Rust stains are hard to remove from clothing. Unless such coins are made from a (more expensive) stainless steel, it's a poor idea.
You are being silly. Prices will be set in increments of the smallest unit of currency, just as they now are.
The U.S. used to have a half cent coin, 1793 to 1857. Are you complaining about rounding away from that half cent you deserve?
As watering the currency is immoral, it is a sign of moral decay and decline. It's much more a symptom than a cause.

The value of a dollar fluctuates by any standard other than itself.
The dollar has no intrinsic value whatsoever. Without public support, it's worth the calories gained by burning it.
Foreign hotels require that I leave my passport at the desk. Compared to leaving a credit card with a cashier, that's a disaster.
I use stderr frequently in development. It's convenient.

As PITA stands for Pain In The Ass, it's obvious where it comes from.
Wrong.
