A person shooting a gun into the air does it without the intention of harming people. That act can kill regardless of intention, and deserves jail time.
A disproportionate punishment is unjust, and sending a "message to those other potential offenders" is no excuse for injustice.
In my opinion, this guy deserved 30 days.
As a side note, vengeance is a valid reason for punishment. By putting vengeance into a standardized and official form, the public can recognize that justice is being done. People are less likely to seek exaggerated vengeance when vengeance is legally performed in a controlled and appropriate manner.
Thanks for the video, it helps a great deal in understanding the potential for harm. The drone lands hard on snow, smashing itself to bits. The center portion appears relatively massive, and it's easy to see that a direct hit from the center portion could cause substantial harm.
Carlyon said John Larsgard has a history of aggressive behavior that received police attention in Alabama, Illinois and California, including a case in which he was accused of running over a man's bicycle in a fit of anger.
You are making the assumption, neither proved nor demonstrated, that there will be a factor-of-one-million improvement of code possible. You are also assuming that we'll allow a machine to alter its own code.
Self-checkout seems to have some limiting factors and in some businesses has already reached saturation.
A supermarket near me closed down its 4 self-checkout machines and returned to human cashiers.
Single atom placement has been an established technology for many years, it's just not practical because it's very slow.
Obviously, once we get to wavelengths so short that we can't focus them and selectively block/pass them, we're going to need different technology, so at some point the word "lithography" may have to be dropped or its meaning changed.
Do take a look at wikipedia articles on extreme UV lithography, X-ray lithography, electron beam lithography and ion beam lithography.
Back in the 70s most of us who were adults then were going to parties with real sex with other participants
If you think that is intelligent behavior, it explains a lot of your posts.
he went bankrupt 6 (not 4) times.
Wrong. Corporations he ran went bankrupt. I don't know how many corporations he ran, or how many he had running at one time, so I can't estimate his success rate.
Your opinion of Trump seems to be based on his pre-Presidential public persona and the wailing of his enemies. Whether what he's doing is wrong or right, one thing is sure: he's got you fooled.
I wonder if the people who vote republican without a 6-figure income understand how disproportionately lower taxes will hurt them.
That's strange, I don't feel hurt when I don't hit my thumb with a hammer, and I don't feel hurt when I don't pay taxes. That's why I left the Land of Fruits and Nuts.
Three times annual gross pay for the price of a house, has been the standard for people who don't live wastefully for at least 60 years and probably much longer. This is merely prudent behavior, so that money can be set aside for emergencies and opportunities, etc..
The Cold War would not have happened without Mao, Stalin, Lenin, Khrushchev, et. al.. It was hideously expensive both in terms of lives and money. The expenses live on in the national debts and large militaries everywhere, which reduce our wealth and frustrate the advance of utilitarian technology.
Part of your air conditioner's load is removing heat that has been conducted inwards through roof and walls. Coat your house with this stuff and the heat flow will be outwards. Perhaps it won't be enough to remove the heat coming through windows and air leaks, and generated internally, but it should lessen your AC load substantially..
Pay attention. Solar cell prices have dropped dramatically over the last decade. Nobody has claimed the really efficient stuff (>40%) is cheap.
Medical technology is reaching the public, despite the FDA's foot dragging. For example, the advances in available AIDS treatment has made a lot of news in recent years.
Mao's political method was to enter a village and kill every leader who didn't agree with him. Get a new set of leaders, kill every leader who didn't agree with him. Repeat until purified.
The words "nuance and subtlety" do not apply. His central committee was thugs and murderers like himself.
A consumer drone is a toy, and in no way is it an important enhancement to a life. Cause serious injury with a drone, you should be banned for life.
If you seriously consider "putting him between a bunch of real criminals" a problem, solitary confinement is the answer.

Gun laws vary by state and sometimes by city. In many places, if you are on your own property when you draw a gun to dissuade an aggressor, you're OK.

Never been a manager, have you?
Settled science, just like global cooling --- er, global warming --- I mean, climate change.

Add also SDI (state disability insurance), not optional.
The California State income tax is 9.3% on taxable income between $51,531 and $263,222.

I'd like to see video of that spooky-looking robot trying to jump up on the table and failing. I wonder how many times they tried before succeeding.
