I highly reccomend Essential CSS and DHTML for Web Professionals (2nd Edition)
I also used this book as a quick reference. But I'm afraid I didn't like it at all. The sample code didn't work most of the time. I found myself writing code just to test a feature that was suposed to work.
Nice old article but exaggerated. Microsoft doesn't want to ruine tcp/ip, just want to make money making it "trustworthy".

Nice attitude.
He seems to be overreacting to Windows situation. The versions that I used (95-NT-98) made very difficult to actually delete a file. Not talking about groups of files.
Sometimes I've had to go through five or six "yes to all" dialog boxes to remove a directory tree.

I thought that Debian has a strong committement for freedom.
Freedom is built offering stuff for the masses. Restricting a distro to some elite defeats this purpose in the first place.
Try http://bitflux.ch/editor.IIRC from one of the authors of the book.
It seems that those Debian guys haven't read Mr. Stallman's FAQ.
