Obviously, you have never used the Lizard. The mouse is detected the first time you move it. Well, and the detect screen is definitely multi-lingual ;-)
It doesn't ask such stupid questions. In fact, you can select your monitor from a list of about 2000 models. And it does some other tricks like finding out your network parameters automagically. Hard to believe until you have seen it...
Well, that is one of the amazing tricks of the Lizard: It really autodetects your mouse!
It might be that they have different cards in Europe, but I was even surprised that it worked without any setup under COL.

I also have a VAIO, but the modem that comes with it works perfectly under Linux.
