not to mention every tax payer. that is valuable gaming money...or the govt could spend less on nat. defense and more on stem cell research, education, space exploration, etc. but that will never happen:(
although the army is great. the usual geek has spent too many years in front of the computer, so their muscles arent quite all that fit. boot camp = hell:P Yes you have chances of going places. but right now, getting killed in the barren wastes of iraq isnt on many ppls top choices of things to do. If you want to do any military service, I would suggest Navy or AF, that way you can at least use your skills. I myself want to travel the world and am in the exact! same situation. And honestly, when traveling the world as a member of the army, you really dont have much say in where you go. This man wants a choice, and just needs to find a means of getting there. The army may be a great experience. But its not for everyone. Yes telling grandchildren bout explosions is cool, but only if you survive. If you are patriotic (Im not) and want to serve and help in wars (I'm a pacifist) and dont mind going wherever you are told to go, great! But Peace Corps and similar orgs are much better for getting around the world with little money.
