I think these things should be programmed to wander around cities/suburban areas and check an encountered persons biometric ID cards (coming soon?). Of course everyone but the "terrorists" would have these cards so catching them in action should be trivial. Perhaps have it explode on request or upon finding a "target". Armies of these things could re-enforce each other.
So were we. I noticed it around 10pm Friday. By the time I reached the location of the affected machines - there was heavy data loss. Backup drive was hosed also. Only seemed to affect win2k machines, the nt4 machine seemed ok.
Nearly 2000 people "caught", out of probably at least 2 million. Not a very good ratio. I would never divulge a users identity to anyone, we don't even keep logs, it's nice to own your own ISP.
The definition of "clone' as used is incorrect, that is probably where the problem comes from in the first place. Redefine that word retroactively and perhaps avoid the whole mess from the start. Clone? I do not think "it" will ever be possible. Are we any closer to understanding the complete universe/multiverse/galaxy much less how our DNA works? HA! Arrogant bastards. In 100 hundred years or so people will laugh at our "clone' ideas. Snicker. I laugh proactively of course. But I reserve the right to change my opinion.
Philip K. Dick is not by any means new... but it is refreshing to read. Some of my favorites:
Radio Free Albemuth
The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch
The Divine Invasion
A Scanner Darkly
Ubik
There are plenty more...
Digging through what you can find of his "exegisis" is a good read...
suck is life
Those two words should never be in the same sentence ....
Every time I read one of these doomsday "cloud" stories it pisses me off, as they are not based in reality! Funny waste of space that "story" is...

... supposed to be interesting why exactly?
... and I must not wonder what you don't share with the "public" ...
I have to agree (oh wait, what am I saying!?)
So our challenge is that we as humans need to first be able to create matter, then cloning will be irrelevant.
