    Maybe it's pedantic, but security updates are for woody/stable and sarge/testing, but not for sid/unstable. Cheers

    The new law will make 'opt-out' agreements (your 'failing to tick the box' types) illegal.

    Users will have to specifically consent to receiving spam email.

    That is the whole point.

    FYI, cold-calling/direct phone marketing is also illegal in the UK except for a very small handful of companies who have somehow gained a specific exemption.

    I arrived in the UK Christmas 2002. I have only just landed a contract doing IT support. Nothing for 3 months, no interest in me, no jobs. In the last week I have had six requests for an uptodate CV, and go for my second interview today. If you ask me, the market is turning. About time too.

    No. Xtra is a 100% owned subsidiary of Telecom NZ, which is owned mostly by overseas telcos. Before it was sold it was Govt owned.
