How about this for a system?
Send mail for free, for now
A $.10 charge from sender to you is scheduled in 1 week
If I know you, I click a link to whitelist you in a web-enabled DB. Charge is not processed, I get your mail in the future, no cost involoved.
If I blacklist you, I get a nickel, and the processing company gets a nickel for overhead processing clean mails.
It's free for you, and cheap for them!

  2. Re:It matters that Microsoft bought it. on Virtual PC 6 Review · · Score: 1

I think you may be missing the real point. If Microsoft runs VPC, they can optimize it to run on Macs well, then does Microsoft care what box you run it on? By improving VPC, they make windows converts, which will hopefully (in MS marketing guy's dreams) buy Windows again, either on x86 hardware or virtual on a PowerPC.

Could the problem of distance be solved by using a low-quality constant audio stream, with a local high quality recording being used for the production piece? Sort of like an audio Edit Decision List?

  6. Plot theory... on Rick Berman Doesn't Know Why Nemesis Tanked · · Score: 1

I want to advance my idea of why Insurection stank:

Site-to-Site transport ruined the suspense and made the whole movie feel slow.

I understand the major points brought about by others (idiot androids are NOT funny) but I think the lack of the standard plot device of transporter room rush killed some elements.
    1. Threat presents itself while on bridge
    2. You, you, your're with me
    3. Turbolift crisis assesment catches us up on missed plot elements, builds suspense.
    4. Line up on transporter deck, give terse "engage"
    5. Watch beam-in, hilarity does not ensue on planet surface/in alien ship.

These devices pace the situation for you, and I felt that there were usually a couple of steps missing which threw off the timing.

  8. Re:Tanks on Homing In On Laser Weapons · · Score: 1

I would think that the air defense component would be the more important angle on this than offensive target elimination. I would think a joint strike with laser and conventional tanks would be best, or some form of combo vehicle. Use laser for defence and line-of-sight targets, conventional rounds for long range and canyon-hidden baddies.

Air attack is the weakness of a tank, especially when in siege mode. Keep Goliaths on hand to defend against air attack. They are cheaper than a flying force. (ok, so I know nothing 'bout tanks)
