i'll go you one better... i ask them to hold while i go get (me) on the phone, put the handset down next to the computer speaker, and fire up the soundtrack to some nice hardcore action. They'll generally listen for 3-4 minutes, though i've had some go as long as ten.
Remember- time is money for them. You tie up their reps for ten minutes listening to your favorite girl-on-girl-on-guy-on-sheep research, and you're doing your part to make telemarketing unprofitable, which is the only real way to kill it.
