  1. Unmistakeably good news on OmniWeb Announces WebCore-Based Browser · · Score: 5, Interesting
I'll be publishing an analysis of how well they've done, and updating the MacEdition guide to CSS2 support in Mac-only browsers in the next few days.

Suffice to say for now that this is unmistakeably good news

crappy browsers that aren't even worth ranting about since nobody uses them.

If one runs a Mac-oriented site, OmniWeb and iCab are still too important to ignore. That said, usage of these two browsers has plummeted in the past twelve months, in the face of superior offerings from Chimera/Camino, and more recently Safari. If MacEdition's logs are any indication, about two-thirds of OS X users are using Safari. It used to be that OmniWeb accounted for nearly half of our OS X-using readers, which was much too much to ignore.

Now, things have changed. The referenced column was a warning to users of these browsers that MacEdition will soon be redesigning in ways that don't work as well for non-compliant browsers.

Yes, it's the text/html object issue. If you change each URL to testNNN.html instead of secNNN.html, where N are numbers or lower-case letters, you will get the page in full-window mode.

OmniWeb has the same problem, BTW, has had for years. The Guide has been updated with new information several times in the past few days as I have time, so keep checking back and do send in new info.

Thanks! And the MacEdition Guide to CSS2 support in Mac-only browsers has been updated for Safari.

You're all very kind, but I can confirm that I (CodeBitch) didn't write the article at Apple's site; Peter-Paul Koch did. I did compile the Bug Guide he refers to, and update it whenever a new CSS bug comes to light that can be narrowed down enough to diagnose. All contributions to these resources, suggestions and so forth are always gratefully received.
