Here, Here! I have a VERY large collection of legitimate, store bought CD's... I also have a very large collection of "One Hit Wonder" songs and artists in 128bit MP3 format simply because I will not pay $18 for one or two good songs... But I most certainly would pay $9 or $10 for a CD. And I will pay a reasonable "per song" cost to download a single song that I like. But force me to pay outrageous prices for a CD that is mostly crap, and sorry - Morpheus, here I come! And I, like many others, already know that every type of copy protection I've encountered so far proved to be no more than an annoyance. But legitimate CD's that won't play in the car for the morning drive to work - THAT'S going to piss off a lot of everyday consumers that up until now weren't even CONSIDERING getting music from the web. But if the only way to hear what they want is to download what they want to hear and make their OWN CD - well... I guess it's only a matter of time. I find it so hard to believe that the decision makers at the record companies are SO BLIND that they aren't seeing it: Make retail price of new releases more reasonable; stop gouging, and maybe there will be a shift back to buying MORE CD'S! Just my thoughts...
