oops, missed this comment. But i had to ask.. you listen to multiple music players at the same time? Your computer playing Modest Mouse on decent speakers while you have headphones on listening to your ipod/zune/walkman and your car is playing something in the garage? Unless i misunderstood and you mean you can listen to the same music in your car as on your computer. If that's the case, then games would make a decent comparison. There are many different computers to play the same game on.

As far as "Physical CDs provide superior sounds than MP3s.." go. I will have to take your word for it because a CD sounds identical to it's rip'd counterpart on my end. Though i'm assuming the MP3 has a decent bitrate or VBR.

For argument, do you feel the same with buying music? Buying MP3s online versus physical CDs?

I use steam and push everything onto the storage server for fast re-install later (or for someone else in the house to grab it without having to re-download). Ditto for music. I think people are being way to harsh on you about physical media though. It is far better in the long run, obviously. But i feel most of the pro's of physical game copies are false. Most games have cd-keys, which prevent safe re-sell.. i would never buy a game that someone else had the key for unless they were a good friend. Online activation also prevents a purely offline install from working. On the other side, steam won't last forever and it's possible all my games (currently 74) will cease to work through steam. Another downside is no pretty manual and goodies in a box : )

    It's all end-user preference, imo.

There will always be people living too far away for decent service. Trying to bring top end service to those people would quickly become a "bridge to nowhere" type issue. I live in Kentucky and have 50mb service. But 10 miles (16km) away from town, the best available is 10mb. Population density allows for more expensive infrastructure.. there is nothing wrong with that. But the problems come in with competition, which you pointed out. If your local ISPs aren't investing in infrastructure and both offer similar service for the same price then it just won't progress.

Half of my state population lives within one city (not my city). So if that city has 50mbit service and the rest of the state was 1.5mb.. it would look like terrible coverage. But really half of the state population has great service. eh, don't quote me on half of the state not having more than 1.5mb.. most cities have atleast 10mb here. DSL for people further out.

We're not talking about just UI. But ignoring that, if someone wants to maintain several different front-ends.. they certainly can. Not everyone wants to though.

I think you are misunderstanding what a port means though. Typically they are a conversion from one system to another because the same code doesn't work on both. Cross-platform specifically means it works on both platforms with identical code. I do understand what you are saying though. That if you want the mac version of your program/game to look good (on the mac), that using a native toolkit is best. I agree with that. But if you are making a cross-platform desktop shell that runs in windows, linux, and mac.. you'll need cross-platform libs to ensure the desktop looks identical on each platform. In this situation, you wouldn't want to use natives on each platform.

This way they can go in with guns first and detonate when/if they become incapacitated by return fire. I'm also pretty sure that suicide bombers wear the vest for long periods beforehand. So they become accustomed to the vest and act natually in it.

I agree with you on all points. The bombers themselves weren't trained anythings.. they were puppets who couldn't be trusted by their parent organization. So they weren't soldiers for their cause.. more like they had more reasons to die than live.

I like the status bar and will be re-adding it. I like to see where a link will be taking me before clicking it. But it is frustrating with url shortners and redirects. I run FF in sandboxie with noscript and other do-dads.. a somewhat paranoid setup. I love websites that function with javascript disabled.. so i hope you can understand how much i do like the status bar functionality. However it truely is not an important part of FF.

The option of adding a status bar is... an option. I doubt it will be missed that much and more browsers will head the same direction. Sorry to sound combative but this whole thread is so silly.
