I use SuSE Linux since 6.2 version and currenlty use OpenSuSE 10.2 . No problem with nVidia driver just add http://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/10.2 to YAST install sources. It will complain that "module license 'NVIDIA' taints kernel" but works perfectly.
OpenSuSE is a good distro, only this Novell/MS relationship annoys me a little bit.
I use SuSE since version 6.2. I rally satisfied with it. My machines are little bit old so all the hardware supported by the default install except the nvidia video card. There is a YAST repository for nVidia drivers and it updated without problem. None of the updates messed up anything.
I never tried using 802.1x.
I use WPA2-PSK AES on Linux (OpenSuSE 10.2) and it works perfectly. I had to play with the wireless card a little bit but after I found a working driver it was easy to configure it to use WPA2. My laptop uses ndiswrapper but one of my desktop systems has a native driver for the wireless card.
I use solar collectors to heat up a tank. It is very efficient, using ~$1/month electicity. In summertime the produced hot water is more than enough for us. In winter an on-demand gas heater helps to heat up the water that comes from the tank.
A one way mission is not interesting. It is already proven that we can send thing to the Mars.
The real challenge it to send people there and bring them back.
In common with most dists, multimedia is a complete disaster zone
I agree. I had to remove xinelib an all dependent apps and install xine manually to play DVSs.
It strange that xmms could not start in a fresh installation. It just stops with a qt error and yet I haven't been able to figure out why.
My two machines run SuSE 9.3 an SuSE 10 and I used RH 9 before installing SuSE 10.
I can not see huge differences. Probably SuSE 10 starts KDM earlier so you can log into KDE before some services started.
