...guess I'm the moron here. I hereby retract the comment I made and humbly apologize for the name calling and failure to recognize the sarcasm. I'm really getting slow in my old age.
Seriously, sorry 'bout that.</blush>
WHAT??? You're a moron. Check this link out for some stats on Apache servers in use vs. MS servers. Apache FAR outnumbers IIS. And MS's SQL implementations are so insecure as to render them practically irrelevant. How about thinking before putting fingers to keyboard next time.
Incredible. Your arrogant condescension of the "non-technically minded" is repugnant and reprehensible. Your language conveys a predication that because you have a scientific intelligence far beyond that of the average citizen, you are, in the grand scheme of things, smarter and better than they are. If this is the case, then why have you not used your astounding intellectual prowess to climb the proverbial "ladder of success" to become the multi-billionaire president of a international corporate firm? Well allow me to enlighten you--there are other forms of intellect and intelligence outside of your scientific paradigm against which you seem to compare everyone. They come by such terms as "business smarts," "artistic creative genious," and "brilliant strategist and tactician." The scientific community is your niche, and if you possess this form of intellect, then apply it there. But when you casually toss such malignant elitist innuendo implying that "joe schmoe" doesn't have "enough brains cells to rub together to keep warm at night," you display an inability to rationally analyze and accept the intelligence and abilities of others as being equivalent (nee, superior) to your own, even when they actually are. And such irrationality stands in stark contrast to the self image of intellectual superiority that you seem to have in your own mind.
But alas, I've gone WAY off topic here. So...I, um..well, I prefer the MP23ASSFLOGG format myself...it really brings out the details in the 1.21tHz range! Or was it googleHertz?
Nice. If this "technical expert" (his byline pins him down as an historian) decides to reply to your letter, please do post it. Of course I, like you, I'm sure, seriously doubt that he will. You've managed to completely debase the argument of a NYTimes, something that he'll be loathe to acknowledge.
Easy, there, Anonymous _COWARD_. No need to call names here. (And no, I'm not calling you a name, I'm merely repeating the "name" on your post).
I find it interesting that NateTech seems to make an assumption as ludicrous and naive as thinking that everyone who operates an Apple Airport does/should have a working knowledge of "sound RF engineering prinicipals." Seeing as how the occupations of Apple product users run the gamut from garbage collector to business executive to elementary school teachers--a vast majority of whom probably don't have a clue what the abbreviation RF even means. So before you start attempting to minimize an issue that obviously transcends your own false assumptions of the extent of the problem, try to realize that your God-given talents and/or knowledge are far from ubiquitous. Please don't be so condescending when you address a problem that mere luck allowed you to escape (as it is obvious that the problems far exceeded the RF signal strength issues which you so arrogantly dismiss).
'Nuff said.
...on OS X. I have a Samsung SCD-60 (about 3 years old) that is literally Plug 'n' Play with Winblows. In fact this is really the only reason I even have Windows on my home PC anymore. I have never been able to get it to work in OS X, not Jaguar, and not Panther. And if you look at Apple's list of supported camcorder on their website, you'll notice that they only support about 4 manufacturer's models. This is ridiculous. Since DV over IEEE-1394 is an industry standard, you should theoretically be able to plug _ANY_ DV camcorder into your Mac's Firewire port and have it work. This obviously isn't so. It shows up as a generic Firewire device using Apple System Profiler, and iMovie simply does not detect it. I even tried it on a friend's Powerbook with FCP 4 installed, and it still didn't work. This is very sad indeed, since I bought my current PB G4 (my 1st Mac ever!) under the assumption that it would make capturing and editing my hours of DV footage a snap, finally and forever freeing me from bondage to that "other OS." If anyone has any knowledge on how to get a Samsung DV camcorder working, please, for the love of God, tell me! This has been one of the biggest thorns inn my side from my decision to go Mac.

Huh? Did I miss something? Where are the pics. Did they get modded out?
