While it is nice that Allen donated this money, does anyone else see what is going on here? Corporations are soaking their workers, and the US population by not paying taxes. Their bringing in exorbitant profits, and yet we thank them when they give a little back to us. It was nice that Enron, after ripping off the state of California, gave Houston Enron field. Ken Lay obviously has a good heart. This is just a new form of serfdom where our labor is taken, and we're given new shiny things to play with worth a fraction of our excess.

Back in the days when computers were large hulking monsters best kept under a desk, some college had a contest matching two computer programs playing the prisoner's dilemma game with roughly equivalent outcomes. A lot of famous computer scientists submitted programs, some many pages in length, but it turned out a really simple program won: Tit for Tat. The program begins with silence, but if it is betrayed, in the next round it will betray you, then switch back to silence. That's pretty much it.

If the iTMS is all about selling iPods, why should Apple turn this down? This owuld be a huge boon to Real, but it'd help Apple as well. Steve Jobs' ignoring this is not going to make microsoft go away, and the more allies he recruits to the AAC/Playfair side, the more iPods he will sell.
