Sometime in the semi-near future (30-40 yrs?), smart cards are going to phase out cash. Think of them as those stores' gist cards: You can add value, give as present, use to make purchases. Plug SC into reader at supermarket for instant deduction of value. Plug reader into another person's to pay them back for lunch.
Visa has nice article about future of SC's
With that in mind, purchases will be very easy to track. They'll be wireless too, im sure. Towers everywhere to upload transactions to national database. Wouldnt be to hard if you ask me =)
Nanotechnology is great in the right hands. On one end:
We could create tiny robots that enter our bodies that fix tissues, heal wounds, fight disese.
On other end:
we have terrorists who could do same thing with robots except these bots would harm people. They would be so tiny that they could be dispursed through the air and into our bloodstreams. This is a scary reality. But we must remember that it can happen.
I dont think we should ban nano, but instead watch it closely enough so it doesnt fall into te wrong hands.
but i'd rather not "in a tree grove." Ouch! How exactly do you land "safely" into a bunch of trees? =P
