    I wish I had mod points today. Yours is the only accurate post I've read on this thread. *Especially* pointing out the monopolies-aren't-illegal thing. Not that I'm a fan of monopolies, but the fact that remains that the big badness comes when you A) gain that monopoly illegally and B) don't follow the different set of rules that exists when you ARE a monopoly.

    Might Google eventually exhibit one or both of those behaviors? Probably. Is this a case of that? No.

    How was it useful to Google to publish the report at all?

    I don't see the point in pretending to provide information while obfuscating the most meaningful bits of it, unless it's a sales attempt to garner attention for a paid-for version of the report. Obviously, Google has concerns in the process different than what our concerns are, but again, I don't really see the point in the report without the brands.

    Slashvertisment and crackpot or not, I don't know. But what bothered me about the initial post, which I haven't seen addressed, is the search for 'novel', saying 'PV had already been done.' So, is there something WRONG with PV or the other ways that have been done, or are we just chasing novel for novelty's sake?

    So I don't know if it's poor posting of his intentions, or poor intentions.

    There were a few good points in there, but all in all I think that deep down inside The Lexus and the Olive Tree there was a clear and concise essay screaming to get out and being smothered by 200 pages of ad-hoc musings that were thrown in as filler.

    Didn't you just describe nearly every book published? They wouldn't get published, and more importantly, wouldn't make the publisher money if they were all the clear and concise essays they should actually be. I'm not saying it's right, I'm just saying it is.

    If you need a support contract for Linux, it's because you have A) incompetent system administrators or B) insufficient sys admin staff.

    If you make a statement like this, it's because you have A) no experience in a real company or B) you do but are still naive as to how your company actually works.

    I know this is simply a sales tactic by these companies that will remain nameless, but how do I fix the damage caused by these sales tactics?

    Oh wow.. Thank GOODNESS you're protecting these poor companies using these lying tactics. I'd hate for their business to be negatively impacted as a result of them.

    NO!! It can't be! You seem to forget, Novell is now Evil. Nevermind the fact that most of the people popping up to claim these things STILL don't really know what Hula is, and are just going off the misleading discription written in the blurb. To call it an Exchange replacement is pretty misleading, and frankly inflamatory.
