What do you against the geeks who think it is cool to plug their own hubs/switches into the network to extend their network ports? -> 2 network outlets pluged into the same switch and you re done. in a serious design you would separate user groups with VLANs and put routers between the vlans. That way such an event would only blackout a specific user-group.
