I was going to say, isn't this the guy who used to be CEO of SGI and sold out all kinds of IP to M$ and moved the company to NT shit a few years back? We all know the financial problems that surfaced for a once great company after that.
I get the feeling that this guy would sell his own soul for a few extra bucks, much like Bill Gates has.
I think Speilberg has a bit more going for him than that. Have you ever seen his film, The Duel? It was the one that put him on the map and got Hollywood to take notice. Its one of his best IMHO.
Can you name a better modern film maker? Who knows how to keep an audience on the edge of their seat better? Sorry Hitch is dead.
Part of Speilberg's draw is that his films work on multiple levels simultaneously. Whether you are talking about Close Encounters or Raiders of the Lost Ark, there is a lot more going on beneath of the surface.
Despite his Hollywood Leftist leanings his films are surprisingly Judeo-Christian (a good number of them anyway) where the importance of family is stressed as well as the Trinity. Whether this is intentional or born of the subconscious with him is not known. But it is unmistakeably there! The Trinity?? Oh yes and yet he is a Jew.
These and others are recurring themes throughout his body of work. I know that Speilberg knows how to make a good popcorn loving movie for the masses but he has the rare gift to truly transcend the mundane and also at the same time make an excellent FILM.
The only criticism i have ever read of Schindler's List is that it made the Nazi's TOO GENTLE! Did they actually gas anybody during the movie???

Blue Laser DVD's should be out next year and allow for 60GB i think. Then again i'm not sure of the shelf life of any magnetic media. Good luck.
