    You can now buy Cree light bulbs from your local home depot for $5.00 (9 for a can light).
    And if clarity is your thing, then they have a new line that matches the GE reveal for color, but it IS expensive ($19).

    Far better to simply start buying the $5 cree 60 w/$9 Br-30 65 w light bulbs from Home Depot and saving yourself some money.
    In fact, with these being 1/6 of the watt of an incadescent (and 1/3 of a flourescent), along with a minimum 10 year guarentee, you would be better off jumping to these and allowing them to run a little bit longer.
    With these ones other bulbs, it will be a waste of energy.

    There are far more releases than is acknowledged. FAR MORE. Look at ebola and see the 2 lab accidents in Russia. Lots of work going on in weaponizing various bugs.
    We desperately need to find an island in the middle of the pacific, or even in the Antarctica, and put up a facility there, with another facility where ppl shuffle off to for up to 2 months after leaving the primary facility. But it should be like the ISS and have multiple nations that work there with ppl going in for 3 or 6 month rotations.

    and yet, the electronics in tesla are NOT an issue. They will not be burning out like flywheels. And the idea of a hybrid is even worse. That is the MOST complex system going.

    Ok, Other than the cheap cars (anything under 50K), all of the electric cars maintain temps for the batteries. Not so much when it is sitting, but when charging, which is what is important.
    The shielding of the pack has to be a joke. There are NO gas cars that have less fires than Tesla does.
    The wiring to connect cells? Seriously? You think that is a big deal?
    And lets see, just in the USA, we have more than 10K chargers. However, Tesla will have most of the US and Europe convered with their free super chargers around the nation.

    So, regardless, Teslas are a long-term joy in comparison to anything ICE based (and hybrids are even worse).

    Seriously, rather than focusing on a much cheaper saner approach of a simple electric car, these car makers continue to make more and more complex systems, which will have maintenance issues down the road.
    This is why tesla, and I think Nissan, will become major players in the car making business.

    No, but every year, old coal units are removed from America, and replaced by OTHERs that include Wind and yes, Nat Gas.
    BUT, even centralized nat gas based electric generators will be more efficient than will this car or ANY ICE CAR.

    The problem with the far left is that best is the enemy of better. You ppl constantly scream that all CO2 must stop right now, and block the ability to phase it out.
    We desperately need intermediate steps to bring down CO2 and other pollution.

    By netflix paying comcast, they will be forced to pay others and it will grow over time.
    They, and others such as Microsoft, should team up with Google's internet service and start installing it everywhere that the monopolies are delivering poor service and playing games with them.

    COnsidering that it is about 60% likely that your cells and panel come from China, you are polluting as much or more than many fossil fuel cars. Do not get me wrong. We have solar city and are looking at either Model X or S. BUT, I am not going to kid myself. Buying from nations like China does not solve the pollution issues.

    exactly right. It is for that very reason why I maintain that the ONLY way to make pollution stop, is to have nations put taxes on ALL CONSUMED GOODS that is based on the pollution from where the good and its part comes from. THis offers a negative feedback for when a nation/state starts to get lazy.

    Look, lets say that it works (which they acknowledge that they have issues still). Then it will ALWAYS emit CO2 and other pollution.
    OTOH, electric cars' pollution is based on where its electricity comes from. As coal power plants die off, the CO2 emissions per KWH will drop. ANd this WILL CONTINUE.

    Call all 4 credit agencies and put a block on your data.
    With this, nobody can access this. If you go for a loan or a CC, then you will need to unblock it, BUT, it is actually cheaper and safer than paying these monitors monthly.

    First off, you obviously know nothing about New Mexico. It is a beautiful state with a lot of interesting ppl (esp. the tribes). had I not responded here, I would have modded you down for this post
    However, I fully agree with the rest. The idea of throwing away 'nuke waste' that is dangerous for 20K years, is insane, when it can be burned up and electricity is generated cheaply.

    The real problem is that these are antiquated system and they did NOT have diesel back-ups like they were required.
    Instead, they need NEW reactors that have designs that will prevent anything like this from happening.
    That is the advantage of the thorium design. ZERO chance of a meltdown unless laws of physic are broken, or the reactor is actually sabotaged from internally.

    Seriously, we need small reactors that use thorium like we had a couple of decades ago. We can get this going again in less than 5 years. With these, we can either augment current sites, or even replace current reactors and then burn up the waste, while getting energy.

    Considering that the west is dealing with issues from Russia because of reliance on Russian energy, AND we have AGW occuring AND we have 'waste' disposal issues, I would think that the west would be smart enough to burn up all of that energy, and then bury only 5% of what they were going to. Heck, WIPP would handle EVERYTHING that we had left, and everything would be safe within 200 years.

    No, NONE of the Crimeans are Russian. The problem is that USSR leaders put a large number of Russians into various hot spots to keep eyes on them. In addition, with Crimea being a large base area for Russia, it lent itself towards Russians being there (esp. to keep the tatars in line who HATE the Russians).

    Actually, most Russian Crimeans, were put there via USSR leaders. They are NOT russian by heritage.

    Seriously, the west thought that the cold war was over, but Chinese leaders, along with Putin, remain in the cold war mind set.
    The west needs to re-think their energy, along with how we handle commerce. In particular, the west, esp. America, keeps transfering tech. to China and Russia. America gave up all of our thorium technology to China. INSANE.
    This is while both nations are massively spying on the west seeking to steal military technology.
