Ever since WWI France has been an incredibly anemic world power (I almost wonder if that term even applies) We had to bail them out of WWI, then we liberated them yet again after WWII...
They have very little political or military might to effect either the US or the UK, so like most of the US they have fallen to the silly litigishnous(sp) that is starting to plague the planet...

1. It is amazing the amount of configuration you can do...finally a computer that looks (and operates) the way I like it...there is much joy in having a fly desktop
2. the amount of pain that came from trying to get it to run right after installing linux for the first time...I think I gained more knowledge about just by trying to make it all work
or if you have some skills and no college degree, you can get a job as a consultant work 30-40 hour weeks get paid more than people with 4 year degrees...
Funny how Alison Huynh mentions crossing the chasm, while I worker as an engineer for a speech recognition company, they hired those guys to come in and help them with their buisness plan. Going so far as to make all of us (engineers) go listen to that crap....
You can take on the gorilla, you just gotta catch him when he's not looking.
Somehow i question the validity of comparing M$ $oftware to BMW engines...
BMW has a reputation standing excellent engineering, and M$ stands on crappy products forced on the public by an exceptionally slick marketing/PR machine and flat out buisness muscle
Think about it.....
