In fact, "The Great Train Robbery" was based on a real Victorian criminal exploit from 1855, rather than on the 1963 Great Train Robbery (though a lot of people, having never heard of the Victorian one, naturally assume it was based on the latter).
There's a chapter on it in the book "The Victorian Underworld" by Donald Thomas. Sorry to be a pedantic pettifogger.
