People DO use intel compilers.
Intel has one of the best compiler teams in the industry incase you haven't noticed... they now own the entire ex-DEC Fortran/C/C++ compiler teams!
You can wack in 2 x 2GB sticks but Iwill choose to promote 2 x 1GB sticks as a safety buffer. 2 x 2GB for 4GB total is currently undergoing testing.

DK8N should bring up lots of hits around the net.
The QK8S is a very unique board as well.
They don't feel the need for the Parallel, the header for the 2nd serial port is there however.

And where did you see a MSRP of $499?
