  1. Re:US Data only on Blogger Finds Bug in NASA Global Warming Study? · · Score: 1

Well the locations of a lot of the climate sensors are known to be in poor locations which will throw the numbers. And how are we suppose to have a reasonable debate when the underlying data is suspect? For me the global warming versus global cooling argument isn't relevant. I am more concerned with dumping millions of pounds of crap into the atmosphere and I would really rather breath clean air and not die of some rather painful disease with environmental causes. Climate modeling is hard enough with good data, if anything lets at least ensure that is what we are getting.

  2. US Data only on Blogger Finds Bug in NASA Global Warming Study? · · Score: 0, Troll

Note: This is for US data only and the overall global warming trend is largely unaffected. So yes the world really is warming up and yes NASA really does suck. The US data in general should probably be ignored as the sensor network is poorly maintained and the sensor locations are very poorly planned.

  3. Full Duplex on Why Are T1 Lines Still Expensive? · · Score: 1

Among the comments made above, T1's are also Full Duplex and synchronous. That is you get full bandwidth going both ways at the same time, ie: you can upload at 1.5mb/sec while at the same time download at 1.5mb/sec. With DSL/Cable you can only be uploading or download at any particular instant.

According to this website: http://www.chessclub.demon.co.uk/culture/worldcham pions/fischer/fischer_spassky_match.htm He did in fact forfeit a game. "Fischer was one game down in the match. He then didn't show for the beginning of the 2nd game, saying the noise of the film cameras in the main hall was distracting him. It led to him forfeiting the game. He was now two down and seriously considering abandoning and returning to the States."

  6. Re:Don't believe should be a blue sky on Colorization of Mars Images? · · Score: 1

Color of the sky comes from scattering of light. Mars atmosphere is much thinner than Earths so light won't be scattered as much. So the sky will probably more of a white/yellow color than blue.

If the blue wavelengths get scattered too much you will get a red sky. You can see this on Earth during sunset when the light from the sun has to travel through much more of our atmosphere. All the blue light gets scattered away and only red light reaches your eyes. But since Mars has a much smaller particicle density in its atmosphere this won't really happen.
