HPFS has been helped along with the JFS from AIX now ported to the new Warp Server. It doesn't seem to be an SMB speed demon but it scales rapidly like it does on AIX. HPFS386 was/is nasty fast with SMB file and print using busmastering cards and has even less fragmenting than the original HPFS.
