For a while, I've felt the same way. I look at the way the US is going and seriously question if I feel right about staying.
But then I thought about it. If the US is known for anything, it's being flighty. We (as a nation) change our minds a lot and on a whim. We're especially good at ignoring our own laws. I can't remember the last time anybody I knew didn't drive at least 5mph over the limit.
In 20 years, when corporations have patented and copyrighted everything they can, they'll still need "corporate growth." They'll start lobbying against all these dumb laws just to get at each other's IP. Corporations aren't eternel, you only need to look at K-mart for that.
I suppose my slightly off topic response is, the USA isn't just about freedom, it's also about hope for a better life. I still have hope. Don't let the hype get you down.
