This isn't a good comparison though, because Photoshop is optimized for the G4 and it's one of the FEW apps that perform better on the Mac.
Also, for a serious cluster, I would suggest going with a company that specializes in this sort of thing (http://www.atipa.com) and go with a rack mount solution. For most clustering applications, you'll see better performance from the newer dual Athlons (not to mention the availability of MOSIX)!
I've had a dual Athlon Redhat 7.1 system running for about two months now, without a reboot. Stability is not a problem (at least not with a well-cooled Enlight 8950 server case and an approved power supply).
Another nice thing about the Tyan Thunder mobo is that all the onboard chipsets are supported in Linux. RH 7.1 installs beautifully, and picks up all hardware!
This is a GOOD point! The most valuable thing that you may learn is how to work well with others on a project. Working on a medium-to-large size project with 30+ programmers is VERY different than what you're probably used to. There are many factors which you probably haven't been exposed to that are of paramount importance in the "Real World." You should try to get as much of this experience as possible before you hit the job market. Employers look for this sort of thing!
In short: Don't be afraid to work with larger teams on bigger projects; this is good experience for the future!
But some of the traits of the surviving organism are passed on to the next generation.
Also, many of these traits ARE new, because no two sexually-reproducing organisms are EXACTLY alike (the exception being mitosis). This implies a dynamic, evolving process, and hence the word "evolution".
